Wizkid Collaborates With Nike For Starboy Jersey

Wizkid is giving us goals.

Weeks after Vogue dubbed him Africa’s hottest popstar by every measure and he unveiled his merch capsule collection, he has posted his jersey collaboration designs with international sports brand Nike.

In February, when the intention to collaborate was made known, we reported that he will become the first African musician to have his own jersey when it scales through. Wizkid, it should recalled, was given an with an orange-coloured Starboy jersey. This new capsule, however, looks like it will take a slight turn from that colour to one more akin to green.

Just like the Nigerian jersey, we are positive this will sell out.

Angry Nigerian Lady Narrates How DJ Cuppy Jumped The Queue To Collect Her PVC

According to Chukwuogo, she had waited for 4.5 hours to be attended to when billionaire daughter of Femi Otedola, DJ Cuppy walked in and jumped the queue.
RE this Cuppy thing..truth is, highly privileged people are rarely concerned with life outside their bubble.

Y/day I stood for 4.5 hrs trying to get my PVC, got there at 7, left at 11.30.

Cuppy strolled in at 10.30 with her entourage and mopol, walked past all of us on the queue and went straight into the thumbprint and registration room. I was standing right outside the door just about to go in when this happened. Now, many of us were VERY frustrated at the whole registration affair.

A man beside me just about to go in had been there since 4am or so. Of course, folks were muttering under their breaths about the unfairness. She’s not a diplomat/politician, she’s just wealthy. If you don’t want to join us like cattle standing for hrs getting harassed by officials, arrange for a private registration at a location of your choice. There’s nothing wrong with that. Companies and residential estate arrange for INEC officials to come register their staff/residents for convenience sake. But I’m guessing there was the PR aspect of it too because her handlers photographed it. No crime in that. She’s an influencer.

What made me realize how tone-deaf she might be was how despite the obvious frustration from people’s facial expressions, and me actually loudly telling an INEC official in her presence that it was unfair to do that at our expense as we all have places to be as well is that she was smiling and chuckling through it all. I was looking straight at her as I was saying these things, not even in a combative manner, more in a “she/you guys should be doing better, leading by example” type stuff.

It was interesting (and annoying) to watch.
They got her sorted and she left.
I don’t expect this sort of person to be aware of stuff outside of their bubble, that’s why I’m not surprised about this interview brouhaha
She’s not a terrible person, I actually enjoy her public personality on occasion.

But Cuppy is tone-deaf.
Honestly, for those in my mentions trying to justify this sort of thing, you’ll be ignored and if you persist, you’ll be blocked swiftly.
Save your data. I don’t have time, love.

CBN Sells N187b T-bills In One Week As Lending Rate Falls

Treasury bills worth N186.92 billion were sold by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) last week via both the primary and secondary markets.

While N33.38 billion worth of the bills were sold off by the apex bank at the primary market, N153.54 billion worth of the instruments were auctioned via Open Market Operations (OMO).

It was observed that stop rates for the auctioned fresh T-bills moved in different directions across the tenor buckets: 91-day stop rate was flattish at 10 percent while 182-day stop rate rose to 10.50 percent from 10.40 percent.

However, the 364-day stop rates fell to 11.22 percent from 11.30 percent.

Also, N153.54 billion worth of T-bills were sold via the secondary market and the outflows were offset by N473.40 billion in matured T-bills on Thursday.

Also, indicative of liquidity surplus was the Standing Deposit Facility (SDF) worth N431.43 billion which outweighed the Standing Lending Facility (SLF) worth N8.67 billion, according to Cowry Asset.

Hence, NIBOR for overnight funds rate moderated to 8.25 percent from 8.90 percent amid sustained financial liquidity ease.

However, NIBOR for other tenor buckets rose: 1 month, 3 months and 6 months tenor buckets rose w-o-w to, 12.06 percent from 11.31 percent, 12.70 percent from 12.44 percent and 14.52 percent from 13.80 percent respectively, suggesting unwillingness of banks to lend to one other.

Elsewhere, NITTY rose for most maturities tracked amid sustained bearish activity due to the continued sell-offs by foreign portfolio investors: yields on the 1 month, 6 months and 12 months maturities increased to 10.34 percent from 10.24 percent, 13.01 percent from 12.77 percent and 12.86 percent from 12.76 percent respectively.

However, yield on 3 months maturity fell to 11.35 percent from 11.36 percent.

4 Things You Must Do Before That Interview

Here are some tips for preparing for interviews:
1 Identifying the need: Every job advert is really a cry for help! The employer has a need and is looking for someone to help them meet that need. Believe it or not, it is not charity - they are not looking for someone to make rich.
The opportunity here is to clearly identify what that need is and also clearly link your skills and offerings to meeting that need. If you cannot match your skills and experience to the need (aka job description) then there is no point applying for the role in the first place. However, beyond the job description, as not all employer needs are clearly articulated, is the real (which is often more important) need. During the interview, you must be able to demonstrate that you are competent and able to meet those needs based on your demonstrable skills and past experience.

2.Know your worth:
They need you as much, if not more than, you need them.
After you have identified the need and clearly understood and demonstrated how you can meet them, you need to know what you and your offerings are worth.
Websites like Glassdoor provide salaries for different roles and industries.
The dreaded question "What are your salary expectations?" could be asked and "I work for free" is not a viable response. It's best to give a range and this should be a fair, neither greedy nor overtly modest, estimation of what you are worth. You can read about how to increase your worth here How to increase your worth – Part 1.

3. Research the Role and Company
Questions like these should be considered when doing your research:
What is the organogram like? Who are my colleagues and who will I be reporting to or who will be my reportees?  Use Linkedin but make sure you use it in stealth mode.
What is the company culture?
Pace (fast-paced or slow-paced and laid back). Family orientated or they would like you to have no work-life balance for example.
Culture of blame or guilt? Open or closed door policy, approachable leadership?
Will I have all the tools I need to effectively and efficiently carry out my job, delivering stellar results?

Benefits and compensation: What are the additional benefits? Bonus, holiday pay, private medical care, childcare vouchers, staff nursery etc, international rotation/staff placement, mentoring, car allowance, phone allowance, training?
Location: easy commute, relocation required, parking availability, proximity to bus/train station or airport?

4. Practice tough interview questions
One can simply not be over prepared for an interview. The stars may align and it might turn out to be a walk in the park but what happens if it does not turn out that way?
Glassdoor also provides a collection of interview questions by company. Tough Interview Questions and Answers also provides questions and answers to touch interview questions.

In conclusion: Smashing that interview is a great feeling. To get that feeling requires a certain level of preparation. This list is not exhaustive but provides a minimum.

Man Crashed A 3-wheeled Car With A Gyrocopter While Trying To Make It Fly

We all know that the Reliant Robin, the small 3-wheeled car, is ridiculously prone to toppling over on every curve on the road.

This fact didn't turn this man and his fellow experimentalist off as they attached a gyrocopter (giant powerful fan that propels a helicopter) to the top of the 3-wheeler to make it fly.

Then the Reliant Robin was towed to a certain speed which gave it a little lift before crashing to the ground.
They will need to go back to the drawing board on this project because there's a reason why helicopters have two rotors. While the one on top provides lift and directional motion, the one on the tail helps it to steer properly.

Nice try and I believe the Wright Brothers must've suffered several of such fails before achieving their first sustained and controlled airplane flight.

What do you think?

Nigerian Student Who Escaped Death Penalty In Malaysia, Re-arrested. Photo

Pictured is Joseph Metuh Onyinye, a Nigerian student who has regained his freedom following a drug charge in Malaysia. The 35-year--old Nigerian was freed after the prosecution failed to prove that he knew that an unopened parcel contained methamphetamine, known locally as syabu.

Justice Datuk Lim Chong Fong of the High Court in George Town acquitted Joseph Metuh Onyinye, 35, without calling for his defence.

He ruled that the prosecution had failed to establish a prima facie case against Onyinye, who was charged with trafficking 1.8kg of syabu.

The Nigerian was charged with committing the offence on Oct 31, 2014, at about 3.10pm at Miami Green Resort Condominium in Batu Ferringhi, Penang.

The Nigerian was charged with committing an offence under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which is punishable under Section 39B(2) of the same Act.

It carries the mandatory death penalty upon conviction.

Report has it that the Nigerian was re-arrested and handcuffed a short while after his release by officers from the Immigration Department as his visa had expired. He may be bundled into the plane for a journey back to Nigeria, any time soon.

Female Professor Sexually Harassed A Male Student At New York University

Nimrod Reitman accused his former N.Y.U. graduate school adviser, Avital Ronell, of sexually harassing him, and the university found her responsible. But some leading feminist scholars have supported her in ways that echo the defenses of male harassers.

The case seems like a familiar story turned on its head: Avital Ronell, a world-renowned female professor of German and Comparative Literature at New York University, was found responsible for sexually harassing a male former graduate student, Nimrod Reitman.

An 11-month Title IX investigation found Professor Ronell, described by a colleague as “one of the very few philosopher-stars of this world,” responsible for sexual harassment, both physical and verbal, to the extent that her behavior was “sufficiently pervasive to alter the terms and conditions of Mr. Reitman’s learning environment.” The university has suspended Professor Ronell for the coming academic year.

In the Title IX final report, excerpts of which were obtained by The New York Times, Mr. Reitman said that she had sexually harassed him for three years, and shared dozens of emails in which she referred to him as “my most adored one,” “Sweet cuddly Baby,” “rooster-er spaniel,” and “my astounding and beautiful Nimrod.”

Coming in the middle of the #MeToo movement’s reckoning over sexual misconduct, it raised a challenge for feminists — how to respond when one of their own behaved badly. And the response has roiled a corner of academia.

GABRIEL SUSWAM CAN GO TO HELL , SAYS GEMADE.

Senator Barnabas Gemade has declared that he will not step down for Dr. Gabriel Suswan to contest the slot of Benue North East Senatorial district .
He made the clarification at the weekend in Makurdi , the Benue State capital.
This followed rumour that he had agreed to step down to allow his son to contest for the governorship seat .
He said : “How does my son ’s governorship ambition come into a matter like that? My son is not a politician , he is a very close friend of Suswam , as they have been together for a very long time .”
“As far as stepping down for Suswam is concerned , I am not surprised about all postings in the social media on the matter.”
The ex-National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP ) urged those making the insinuation to note that: “Incumbents are the people regarded as owners of positions , while those who seek the positions come behind them .
“So , whoever wants this senate seat should do all that is required to canvass for the position , and ask the people to support them , rather than asking someone to step down. ”
Gemade said he doesn ’t have a senate seat to give to anybody , adding that his seat belongs to the people , who can take it back or ask him to hand it over to someone else .
On alleged gang up by members of the All Progressives congress ( APC ) to impeach Senate President Bukola Saraki, he said the plot would fail because it is a wild goose chase.
He explained that the APC Senators lost out in the battle to oust Saraki , hence they embarked on illegal means of barricading states and national assemblies to force things to be done .
He commended Vice President Yemi Osinbajo for his intervention in the siege to the National Assembly by operatives of the Department of State Services ( DSS ) .
Gemade lamented that the Federal Government has been unable to guarantee the safety of lives and property , lamenting that poverty has become so pervasive that about 87 million Nigerians are very poor .

Weflo: "As An Upcoming Artiste, You Either Have A Sponsor Or You Are A Yahoo"

Fast-rising singer, Weflo has stated that no youth can make it in the Nigerian music industry with their own money. Asked why yahoo-yahoo is believed to be rampant among many upcoming artistes, the UNILAG graduate explained that if you are not getting someone to finance you but you have been able to shoot so many high quality videos, then you are either into fraud or other illicit means of raising money.
While speaking in an interview with reporters at an event in Lagos about his newly released video, "Ise" shot by top Director Paul Gambit, Weflo lamented that the Nigerian environment is not conducive for upcoming talents because the cost of establishing your musical talent is almost like the cost of going into an oil and gas business.
"The Nigerian music industry is not for a poor person, and this is not to discourage any upcoming artiste from coming into the industry, but the truth is that if you as an upcoming artiste doesn't have anyone backing you financially, you will be depending on only fate to even get attention. Studio fees alone will not allow you to beable to express all your talent. It will restrict you from doing as many songs as you want. Your hit song is probably among the ones you haven't yet have money to record. When time comes to promote the audio, the media will cut your neck and you may eventually not beable to promote the song.
"Don't even let me start with video directors. Sometimes to get a standard video shoot at 1millin Naira, you have to beg directors. Don't also talk about DJs, radio stations and Alaba mix and so on.This is why for every 20 successful artistes making waves, there are probably more than 200 thousand others looking up to God for studio fees. That is why a lot of artistes are into Yahoo and all sorts of means to raise money. It's not in my place to judge anyone, because we are all responsible for our actions at the end of the day. So if you find an upcoming artistes who is shooting all types of internationally standard videos and spends so much promoting them, then money comes from either one of the aforementioned means; not to deny that there are occasional exceptions where the song just go viral without any major effort. In my case though, i have been lucky to have the full support of my parents financially and in all ramifications." Weflo stated.
Explaining further, Weflo says "You might want to ask, can't an artiste get a part time job and save up for his music career? The truth is, like i said earlier, the type of capital you need to succeed in the music business is not the type you use starting a small scale business. You need millions to run it. If you start small, fine!; but 9 out of 10 times you will not break through until you find a sponsor. Maybe if you earn a 7-figure salary, but how many youths in Nigeria earn a 7-figure salary? The few that do are most likely not into music."
Weflo however advised that the best way forward is for banks, government and corporate bodies to support the industry.
"We are in an era where music videos reach 100million views on Youtube, I dream of an industry where a brand for instance can take up the bill of an artiste's musical video shoot in exchange for a feature of their product or service in the video. Banks should also beable to give loans to artistes and government needs to fund entertainment same way they fund sports", he advised.

NASS Invasion: FG Planning To Twist Facts To Indict Us, - Saraki, Ekweremadu

Senate President, Dr, Abubakar Bukola Saraki and his Deputy, Ike Ekweremadu have raised the alarm that the Federal Government has commenced the execution of a plot to implicate them and their colleagues in the People's Democratic Party (PDP) for the last Tuesday Invasion of the premises of the National Assembly by men of the Department of State Services (DSS).

In a statement signed by their media aides, Yusuph Olaniyonu and Uche Anichukwu, the two legislative leaders stated that after receiving the interim report submitted by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Idris Ibrahim, the Presidency has today constituted a closet panel to review the report and submit a final recommendation.

The mandate of this closet panel, the two legislators stated, is to turn facts on the head and blame the invasion of the National Assembly on the two leaders of the Red Chamber of the National Assembly, who will then be presented as having worked in tandem with the sacked Director General of the DSS, Mallam Lawal Daura to stage the parliamentary security breach.

"We have been reliably informed that instead of the Presidency to set up a public inquiry or judicial commission to probe last Tuesday's early morning Invasion of the National Assembly as being demanded by the general public, they have commenced a process of manipulation and fabrication.

"The Presidency has set up a closet panel, which would work to a predetermined conclusion in which they will now claim that the Senate President and the Deputy Senate President worked in collusion with ex-DG of DSS, Lawal Daura to stage the invasion.

"They want to shield the fact that the previous night before the invasion and up till the early hours of Tuesday, there was a meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) senators and that the plan was for them to be moved in a coaster bus into the National Assembly complex later that morning for them to purportedly remove us and select a new Senate President and Deputy Senate President.

"Their plot only failed because the media, particularly social media, Nigerians and international community responded very swiftly as some legislators who came into the complex were refused entry by gun-wielding, hooded security operatives.

"Now, they want to turn the facts on its head and blame us for their botched plot against democracy. We are hereby alerting all Nigerians and members of the international community that the present Nigerian government will stop at nothing to destroy, suppress and incapacitate the opposition. This is their new tactic and plot as we approach the period of the 2019 polls.

"We hereby reiterate our earlier position that the coup against democracy as represented by last week’s invasion must be probed through an independent judicial commission of inquiry which will produce a comprehensive report. We reject any manipulated and fabricated investigation,” Saraki and Ekweremadu stated.

The presiding officers added that they have also uncovered a sinister plot in which the government plans to use the anti-graft and security agencies to incarcerate them and some members of their families from next week, all in a bid to break their will and effect their removal.

Kepa Arrizabalaga Set To Become The Most Expensive Goalkeeper Ever

Kepa's €80m release clause paid as Chelsea seal deal for Courtois replacement

The Blues are on the verge of completing the signing of the Athletic Club goalkeeper, with their Belgian No.1 heading to Real Madrid
Chelsea are close to finalising the signing of Kepa Arrizabalaga having activated the goalkeeper's €80 million (£71m/$92m) release clause, Goal can confirm.

The player's representatives and lawyers travelled to La Liga headquarters in Valencia on Wednesday to pay the fee, with Kepa now due to travel to London to undergo a medical and finalise personal terms.

The Kepa deal will break the club's previous transfer record, set last season when the Blues signed Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid in an initial £58m ($75m) deal, potentially rising to £70m ($90m).

It will also make Kepa the world's most expensive goalkeeper, less than a month after Alisson joined Liverpool in a £65m (€73m/$85m) move.

The move fo the Spaniard will free up Thibaut Courtois to complete a switch to Real Madrid, with the Belgian having been absent from training as he looked to force through a switch to Santiago Bernabeu.

Madrid have been keen to bring in Courtois in a €35m deal (£31m/$40m) for some time now, where the funds expected from that transfer being used by the Blues to secure Athletic goalkeeper Kepa.

And the Blues' transfer business isn't likely to end with Kepa - Goal understands Maurizio Sarri's side are in talks over a loan move for Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic.

Indeed, Madrid boss Julen Lopetegui has revealed that his side will attempt to find a "high level replacement" should Kovacic complete a switch to Stamford Bridge.

Time is against Sarri and Chelsea, however, with the transfer window for Premier League clubs closing at 5pm BST on August 9.

Chelsea get their Premier League campaign underway on Saturday with an away trip to David Wagner's Huddersfield Town.
